In traditional Chinese medicine, the dried stems of this orchid have been used against fever, thirst, and coughs.
Description:
This medium to large orchid has stems which look like bamboo, and honey-scented flowers. When in bloom, it gives the impression of a bamboo plant springing out in yellow flowers. It can give growers some confusion, as the flowers are either rather variable, or there are two taxa classified under D. hancockii.
