Bloom characteristics:
Inflorescence is .8-2.4" (2-6 cm) long with 3-12 white flowers with purple lines in throat. Flowers are 2.8-4" (7-10 cm) across and long-lived.
Description:
This medium to large orchid grows across a very small range in the Philippines, and has long-lived flowers. It was first brought to Europe in 1909, where the famous orchidist Henry Sander named it for his wife, Eliza. Although she helped compile hybrid names for Sander’s horticultural business, she reportedly “never showed any interest in orchids.”
