Distribution: SE Colombia to N South America and N Brazil
Habitat: Lower elevations
Life form: Epiphytic
Bloom characteristics: Inflorescence is 24-44" (60-110 cm) long and has many brown flowers with a white lip. Flowers are 2-2.4" (5-6 cm) across with wavy petals that can have yellow edges.
Pollination syndrome: Probably bee
Description: A chemical extracted from this large, heat-loving orchid has shown some promise in fighting certain types of cancer.
