Bloom characteristics:
Erect inflorescence is 12" (30 cm) long with 1-2 glossy flowers that range in color from green to brown to yellow. Flowers are 4-5" (10.2-12.7 cm) across.
Description:
A very popular small to medium sized orchid, its Latin name means “badge of honor” in reference to its striking flowers. Due to its popularity in the eighteen and nineteen hundreds, it is now very rare in the wild. It is the type species for the genus.
